Robinson Road Halloween Traffic and Safety Management
City officials presented safety and traffic plans for the viral Halloween attractions on Robinson Road, including one-way traffic routing in the preceding week and full road closures on Halloween night. Council members raised concerns about emergency vehicle access, neighborhood impacts, and potential city cost recovery.
Police Recruitment Incentive Increase
The city is raising its sign-on bonus for experienced police officers to $15,000 to stay competitive with neighboring cities and help fill ongoing department vacancies. Council members discussed the need for transparency on how past incentive funds were spent and how the new bonuses tie into staffing for 10-hour shifts.
Animal Shelter Strategy
The city is considering closing the current animal shelter and partnering with a regional facility due to the poor condition of the existing building. This would cost about $900,000 annually.
Cravens Road Safety
The city has delayed action on a Cravens Road item to allow stakeholders and policymakers more time to work through public safety concerns.
